Digitalisation for Data Privacy & Compliance
Andrew Ormesher, Lead Solutions Consultant for Human Capital Management and Content Solutions, OpenText ANZ
Abdullah Noman, Senior Solutions Consultant, Information Management & Governance, OpenText ANZ
As organisations, we have all deliberately signed up to multiple niche cloud products to service our business and meet our needs – so why are we still trying to eliminate information silos and impose control over content? In this first half of the session, we will explore why it is important to ‘make it easy for people to do the right thing’; and how connecting content to process can make your business both more efficient and compliant.
Next, we need to manage the classification, monitoring, analysing, protection and governance of the data generated - done effectively only if you know what data you have. The single biggest reason for data breaches and exposure of PII data is NOT lack of security or protection, but OVER RETENTION. Hanging on to unknown and unaccounted for data well past its active life runs the risk of not just accidental or malicious exposure but increasing on-going operational and environmental costs of managing ROT. In the second half of the session, we will explore how OpenText technology can discover all your data assets, catalogue or classify them based on risk, business value and sensitivity and bring that data into proper retention and disposal management.
